The rise of food delivery apps (Zomato, Swiggy, Zepto, Blinkit) has revolutionized the industry. However, the digital space has even stricter FSSAI requirements than traditional outlets to ensure safety for remote consumers.
There are two roles here:
FSSAI mandates that all online food platforms must display the FSSAI license number and the 'Hygiene Rating' (if available) of every restaurant listed on their app. This allows consumers to make informed choices before ordering.
For online delivery, packaging is as important as the food. FSSAI mandates the use of food-grade containers and tamper-evident seals. Delivery partner hygiene is also monitored to ensure that food doesn't become unsafe during transport.
Go online with confidence. Pragati Services helps cloud kitchens and food startups get their FSSAI numbers ready for listing on all major food delivery platforms.

Can I sell food through Instagram or WhatsApp without FSSAI?
Legally, no. Any commercial sale of food, even through social media, requires at least an FSSAI Basic Registration.
Do I need a separate license for home delivery?
If you have a licensed restaurant, your existing FSSAI covers delivery. If you are ONLY doing delivery (no seating), you are a 'Cloud Kitchen' but the license requirements are largely the same.
What is a 'Cloud Kitchen' in the FSSAI portal?
On the FoSCoS portal, cloud kitchens usually select 'Food Service' -> 'Restaurant' as their Kind of Business, even if they have no physical dining area.
